Job Description

Lighthouse Technology Services is partnering with our client to fill their SQL Server Platform Engineer position! This is a 2+ year contract opportunity and will be remote in the United States.


This role will be a W2 employee of Lighthouse Technology Services. No C2C or subcontracting arrangements will be considered.


What You'll Be Doing:

  • Design and build database platform components and automation products for internal and customer-facing teams
  • Develop infrastructure-as-code solutions using Terraform, Ansible, or PowerShell to enable scalable database deployments
  • Support and optimize cloud database platforms across Microsoft Azure and AWS environments
  • Manage and maintain on-premise Microsoft SQL Server environments comprising approximately 80% of the database estate
  • Engineer platform products that enable self-service database consumption for development and operations teams
  • Implement advanced database administration solutions beyond traditional user role management
  • Architect high availability and disaster recovery solutions to ensure business continuity
  • Collaborate with platform engineering teams to deliver automation capabilities and technical solutions
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to stakeholders across various technical backgrounds


What You'll Need to Have:


  • 10+ years of hands-on SQL Server experience in enterprise environments
  • Proven expertise in database platform engineering and automation, beyond traditional DBA responsibilities
  • You will need to be able to communicate what you have done and how without using AI.
  • Your resume needs to reflect what you can actually speak to and prove in an interview.
  • Strong proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools including Terraform, Ansible, or PowerShell
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Azure database services, specifically SQL PaaS and SQL Managed Instance
  • Solid experience with AWS database services and cloud platform architecture
  • Advanced database administration capabilities including high availability and disaster recovery implementation
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences


Pay Range: $65-75+/hr
