Lighthouse Technology Services is partnering with our client to add a Senior Open Source Developer to their team! This is a direct hire role and is open to hybrid candidates in Buffalo, New York.
Position Overview
We are seeking a strong, self-motivated individual to help produce innovative solutions, develop and maintain multiple web applications and databases based on open source technologies (Angular, Node, TypeScript, MySQL). The developer will be a contributing member of an energetic team of technology and education professionals. Our developers work closely together with internal team members and external customers to develop software to help resolve challenges in education. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be part of the development of a successful commercial product, using cutting edge, open source technologies. A great deal can be learned and shared on this project; there is room for significant career skills development and professional growth. This position requires the candidate to design, code, test, and debug this product.
This position requires a flexible 40-hour per week commitment, with some variation in the hours to be determined by the needs of the clients. This position follows a hybrid work model that allows employees to work remotely or on-premises in our Buffalo, NY office, with the requirement of working 2 days a week in the Buffalo office.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Work with a team of developers, web designers, and educators
- Develop a new version of an existing product, and eventually be responsible for the ongoing managing and maintenance of that product in a production environment using promise-based Typescript programming using Node and Angular
- Design, maintain, and optimize MySQL databases with a solid understanding of RDBMS best practices
- Work with an app development kit for storing and retrieving application files in Amazon S3
- Use best practices for application and database security
- Testing of product to ensure cross browser compatibility, functionality, responsiveness, and accessibility
- Use formal software issue tracking through Jira, moving software from development, through quality assurance testing in a staging environment, and to production
- Meet with educators to ascertain specifications and requirements to turn into working solutions
- Participate in project requirements gathering, analysis and design meetings and collaborative sessions to determine feasibility and provide solution recommendations for new product requests
What You'll Need to Have:
- 8+ years related work experience
- Web Development Experience
- Promise-based Typescript programming using Node and Angular is essential
- Object-Orientated Programming
- Must be able to perform most programming and analysis tasks independently with minimal direction
- Basic source control concepts using Git software
- Knowledge regarding best practices for application security
- Experience with Accessibility / ADA Compliance
- Commensurate years of experience with MySQL
- Strong working knowledge of relational databases
- Database design and RDBMS best practices
- Knowledge regarding best practices for database security
- Able to work independently as a self-starter
- Good energy, attitude, and enthusiasm contributing to our positive work environment
- Self motivated with a high-level work ethic
- Working well as part of a team of developers
- Timely and deadline driven with strong attention to detail
- Able to estimate project efforts and project scheduling of tasks, reporting status on a regular basis
Pay Range: $80,000 - $110,000 Annually
