Lighthouse Technology Services is partnering with our client to fill their Network Engineer position! This is a direct hire opportunity and will be hybrid in Buffalo, NY (candidates in other U.S. locations may be considered based on experience).
Position Overview:
The Network Engineer will be an integral part of our USA-based team, responsible for a wide range of system engineering duties including system design, engineering support, and deployment of IP-based Passenger Information Systems and Rolling Stock/Bus CCTV Systems.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Serve as the initial point of contact for project engineering requirements.
- Lead technical meetings with customers and internal project teams.
- Translate functional project requirements into technical system requirements.
- Identify hardware/software development needs and assess technical risks.
- Support system configuration and testing during all project phases (FAI, FAT, SAT, integration tests, etc.).
- Assist with on-site system deployments and provide post-installation support.
- Prepare and lead technical documentation and customer training sessions.
- Provide continuous feedback to improve products and solutions.
- Ensure adherence to quality management processes.
- Proactively identify and resolve technical gaps between stakeholder deliverables.
What You’ll Need to Have:
- 3 to 5+ years of experience in a Systems Engineer, Project Engineer, or similar role.
- Basic knowledge of electronic hardware concepts.
- Strong skills in data network setup and configuration, including firewalls, switches, VLANs, VPNs, and wireless networks.
- Familiarity with audiovisual systems and related streaming/control protocols such as VoIP, SIP, RTSP, MQTT, TRDP, and video compression like H.264.
- Experience with HMI systems and Linux operating systems is a plus.
- Prior experience delivering public transit/rail projects is a strong advantage.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively, adhering to strict schedules.
- Capable of working across multiple time zones and with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Willingness to learn and stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Travel required within North America, including overnight and occasional weekend travel; international travel may also be required.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical experience.
- Solid understanding of software development lifecycle and technologies.
Salary Range: $65,000 to $75,000
