Lighthouse Technology Services is partnering with our client to fill their Transportation Systems Solution Engineer position! This is a direct hire opportunity based in Buffalo, NY and is open to remote candidates in the US.

Position Overview:
This role will act as the technical liaison between customers and internal engineering teams, ensuring transportation technology solutions are clearly defined, engineered, validated, and delivered successfully. You will design, support, and deploy IP-based Passenger Information Systems (PIS) and Rolling Stock/Bus CCTV systems, owning system configuration, integration, testing, and technical execution across the full project lifecycle.

What You’ll Be Doing:
Customer & Technical Interface
- Act as the primary technical liaison between customers and internal teams (Product, R&D, Engineering).
- Translate technical complexity into clear communication for customers and cross-functional teams.
- Translate real-world operational needs into clearly defined, scalable system solutions.
- Lead technical discussions, design reviews, and requirement workshops with customers.
- Identify new development requirements and surface technical risks early in the design phase.
- Deliver customer training sessions and provide remote and on-site support.
System Design & Integration
- Analyze customer specifications and work with internal teams to develop solutions across electronic systems such as:
- CCTV
- Passenger Information Systems (PIS)
- Public Address (PA)
- Passenger counting
- IP-based data networks
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software teams.
- Support the full system lifecycle, from concept and design through integration, validation, and commissioning.
Technical Documentation & Delivery
- Produce and maintain technical documentation.
- Partner closely with Project Managers to align technical execution with scope, timelines, and customer expectations.
- Update task tracking tools (e.g., JIRA) and support Agile workflows.

What You’ll Need to Have:
- MUST Have: proven experience delivering technical projects to clients in the Automotive, Aeronautics, or Large Industrial industry
- Travel required within North America, including overnight and occasional weekend travel; international travel may also be required.
Education & Experience
- B.S. or M.S. degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Computer Science, or related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in System Engineering or a closely related technical role
- Experience working across multi-disciplinary teams within complex technical environments.
Technical Expertise
- Strong understanding of electronic hardware and embedded systems.
- Strong undersanding of IP networking configuration and setup.
- Knowledge of audiovisual and streaming technologies, including:
- VoIP
- SIP
- RTSP
- H.264 compression
- Experience in rail, transportation, or mobility technology environments (advantageous).
Professional Skills
- Ability to translate technical complexity into clear communication for customers and cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical thinking and structured problem-solving abilities.
- Comfortable working independently while managing multiple projects in parallel.
- Willingness to travel for short-term assignments.
