LHTS is seeking a UX Research Architect to lead a UX Research Team for a 6-12 month project in Hartford, CT.  This consultant will create innovative, usable and buildable phone, tablet and laptop/desktop applications.  They must have a combination of hands-on research skills and the ability to guide a team to great results.  

Responsibilities Include:

  • Design and front-end technical know-how to understand the development implications of your design recommendations and enables you to provide solid design recommendations as an output of your research.
  • Solve design challenges with research.
  • Strong experience in crafting research plans and conducting or leading research efforts to solve business and design problems on behalf of the users.
  • Research and design experience to lead both designers and researchers based on the data from user insights.
  • Create artifacts that illustrate how an app will look and work and evaluate designs through usability testing.
  • Create annotated wireframes, visual design comps, user flows, and/or paper and interactive prototypes as necessary in order to explore ideas and document design decisions.
  • Lead the research effort, direct, critique, and coach the UX team; lead user research and analysis; and have extensive experience structuring usability tests and interpreting results. 
  • Deliver on time and on budget by managing scope and balancing business needs, user needs, and technical elegance/complexity.
  • Work with clients as a leader and expert.
  • Experience facilitating client discussions and defending design decisions to clients and the development team.

Required Skills Include:

  • Effectively present and defend design recommendations based on the data gathered from user and market research, brand guidelines, business needs, user goals, and usability, rather than personal opinion
  • Years of experience with research, usability testing, surveys, and presentation of findings
  • Strong understanding of interface design principles; navigation and architecture; and typography, color, and layout principles
  • Familiarity with standards-compliant web design and the capabilities and constraints provided by CSS, JavaScript libraries, mobile app frameworks, etc.
  • Collaborate with technical team members and mentor more junior colleagues
  • Speak and write well, play well with others, and engage with senior-level clients 
  • Experience in consulting and the ability to deal with ambiguity 
  • Willingness to travel to client locations and collaborate with distributed delivery teams
